The Parapolitica newspaper reported that an American drone base will be built in Greece, near the city of Larisa.
According to the newspaper, “a base for American drones is being built on the basis of the 110th Fighter Wing in Larisa – it will monitor the entire Aegean Sea.”
Eight advanced drones of the MQ-9 Reaper series have been deployed, in addition, the Greek armed forces are negotiating the purchase of three more drones of this type.
The first four such drones arrived in Greece disassembled and assembled in Larisa, and the next arrived ready for battle from other US bases in Europe.
It should also be noted that the MQ-9 Reaper drones can fly much longer than, for example, the Turkish Bayraktar TB2. At the same time, it has the ability, if necessary, to carry air-to-surface and air-to-air missiles.
In addition, these drones can track a potential enemy by sending a real-time image of the field to operations centers.
