On Thursday, the Asian Olympic Council proposed allowing Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete in the Asian Games despite Russia’s invasion of Ukraine. The Kuwait Olympic Council of Asia said on its official website: “All athletes, regardless of their nationality or passport, must be able to participate in sports competitions. “The Olympic Council of Asia has proposed to provide qualified Russian and Belarusian athletes with the opportunity to participate in Asian competitions, including the Asian Games,” he continued.
The International Olympic Committee announced on Wednesday that the return of Russian athletes to compete in the 2024 Olympics in Paris should be “further explored” despite Ukraine’s calls to ban them.
