His Excellency Sheikh Shura Council Speaker Dr. Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Ibrahim Al-Sheikh attended the Fifth Conference of the Arab Parliament and the Heads of Arab Councils and Parliaments at the Arab League Headquarters in Cairo today. Gathered at the Fifth Conference of the Arab Parliament approved a document entitled “Parliamentary Vision for Safer Arab Food” to be presented to Their Majesties, Highnesses and Excellencies the leaders of the Arab countries at the next session to be held in the Islamic Republic of Mauritania.
The document included the most important problems facing the Arab nation in this aspect, as well as a number of recommendations and parliamentary opinions that could contribute to solving the problem of Arab food security, including the creation of an advanced legislative structure. For a more resilient and resilient Arab food system, localization of technology, application of the concept of smart agriculture, and encouragement of Arab investment in the agricultural sector.
His Excellency Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel Abdul Rahman Al-Asumi said in his speech at the opening of the session: “The conference is devoted to the draft document prepared by the Parliament entitled “Parliamentary Vision for Strengthening Arab Food Security”. “pointing out that this document includes the most important problems facing Arab food security and some proposals that help solve this problem, which is a problem that cannot wait, since it has become the main pillar of Arab national security.
For his part, His Excellency Ahmed Aboul Gheith, Secretary General of the League of Arab States, in his speech at the conference, noted the importance of the problem of food security of the Arab countries, which is facing serious problems. Due to the consequences of the war in Ukraine and the resulting turmoil in the world grain market, as well as the escalation of inflation and the associated rise in food prices.
For his part, Chairman of the Pan-African Parliament Chief Forchun Charumbira stressed the importance of Arab investment in Africa, especially in infrastructure and agriculture, as well as the importance of coordination between the Arab Parliament and the Pan-African Parliament. in this respect. To expand economic cooperation between the two sides, calling for Arab-African cooperation in various fields.
His Excellency the Speaker of the Shura Council took part in the coordinating meeting and closed session of the heads of the Arab Councils and Parliaments, held before the Fifth Conference of the Arab Parliament and the heads of the Arab Councils and Parliaments.
