Apple Announces Sales Tax-Free Holidays in Several States
Apple has published a list of products exempt from sales tax during forthcoming holidays in many states across the United States, including Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Missouri, Tennessee, and West Virginia. There will also be a holiday from the sales tax in other states, including Massachusetts, New Mexico, and South Carolina. Apple’s list still needs to be updated to include them, however.
Sales Tax Holidays and Eligible Products
During sales tax holidays, customers can buy certain Apple products online or in stores without paying sales tax. This offer is only valid for a short time. The list of eligible products and the maximum purchase price differs from state to state; further information can be found on Apple’s official website. Apple has stated that any tax savings will be reflected on the final transaction, even if they do not appear during checkout.
The tax-free holidays start between the end of July and the beginning of August. Depending on the state, Apple products such as Macs, iPads, iPhones, and/or accessories could be considered eligible for the promotion.
Saving Opportunities for Students
Students can save even more money during sales tax holidays by combining their tax savings with Apple’s ongoing Back to School deal. This campaign gives students up to a $150 Apple gift card with the purchase of an eligible Mac or iPad and 20% off AppleCare+ plans. Sales tax holidays are especially helpful to students because they can combine their tax savings with Apple’s ongoing promotion. This is in addition to educational discounts that Apple already offers on certain goods.
