An earthquake of magnitude 5.8 hit the Kuril Islands in Russia.

An earthquake measuring 5.8 on the Richter scale occurred today in the Pacific Ocean near the Russian Kuril Islands. The Unified Geophysical Administration of the Russian Academy of Sciences stated that the epicenter of the earthquake was 189 km from the city of Severo-Kurilsk. and at a depth of 42 km.

There were no reports of human casualties or property damage as a result of the earthquake.
