An earthquake measuring 5.1 on the Richter scale hit the northern Japanese island of Hokkaido.
According to the National Research Institute of Geosciences, the earthquake’s epicenter was in the Soya region on the northern island of Hokkaido, at a depth of three kilometers.
No tsunami warnings were issued and no damage was reported.
