Basketball player Britney Grainer pleaded guilty Thursday to drug trafficking charges after she was arrested with cannabis at a Moscow airport in February.
“I would like to plead guilty on all counts,” Greiner told the court, arguing that she “had no intention of violating Russian law.”
The Phoenix Mercury player traveled to Russia in February to play during the NBA break, a common practice for basketball players who sometimes earn more abroad than they do at home.
Upon arrival at Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow, she was stopped, according to the indictment, in her bag she had cannabis oil in packages for electronic cigarettes.
