US media reported that a freight train belonging to the South Norfolk Company derailed on Saturday morning in Lexington, North Carolina.
A spokesman for the company told Fox News Digital that residents of the area have nothing to worry about.
The spokesman added: “This morning one of our trains through Lexington derailed. Out of 132 train cars, one derailed.
He confirmed that there were no reports of a dangerous condition or danger to the public.
He said the crew was safe and that personnel were on their way to begin cleanup operations. A freight train derailment in Norfolk caused several trains to stop.
The derailment came less than a month after a 50-car train derailed, 10 of which were loaded with vinyl chloride.
