Since the summer, WhatsApp has been developing an improved Mac client with built-in support for Apple hardware. All users of WhatsApp who want to test out the software can now do so with the beta version.
The Mac software with native Apple Silicon compatibility is available for download from the WhatsApp website, as mentioned by WABetaInfo. You can access the download immediately by clicking here.
Before this, only a select group of users with WhatsApp TestFlight could access the beta. Nevertheless, WhatsApp is extending testing before a formal release. Keep in mind that as this is still in development, some functions might need to be revised.
Rosetta 2 provides access to WhatsApp for Mac’s Electron-based Intel version for Apple silicon Macs, but this is the first time a native version has been made generally accessible. The Apple silicon-optimized Universal app will operate more quickly and efficiently on devices with the M1, M1 Pro, M1 Max, M1 Ultra, M2, M2 Pro, and M2 Max processors.
