An earthquake measuring 6.2 on the Richter scale hit the Alaska Peninsula in the United States today. The European Mediterranean Seismological Center said the quake’s epicenter was 77 kilometers below the earth’s surface, at the confluence of 156.21 degrees north latitude. and 156.69 degrees west.
There were no immediate reports of casualties or material losses.
