The General Assembly of the Arab Cycling Federation announced today at its 35th meeting in Cairo, Egypt, the recommendation and unanimous vote of the President of the Saudi Arabian Cycling Federation, Abdullah bin Ali Al Watlan, as Vice President of the Arab Federation for the period 2022-2024.
The Arab Cycling Federation, established in 1975, operates under the auspices of the Union of Arab National Olympic Committees and strives to raise the level of Arab cycling to the best and world.
In 47 years, the presidency of the Arab Union has gone through three presidents, starting with His Highness Prince Bandar bin Abdul Rahman bin Abdul Aziz, then Dr. Khalid bin Ibrahim Al-Turki, then Sheikh Faisal bin Humaid Al Qasimi assumed the presidency from June 1997 to the present in the capital Riyadh, then moved to the city of Cairo, then to the city of Dubai and finally to the emirate of Sharjah.
Notably, Abdullah Al Watlan created the Kingdom’s first cycling group in 2012 called “My Bicycle” and was appointed to the Board of Directors of the Saudi Arabian Cycling Federation during the period 2013-2016. , and was elected President of the Saudi Arabia Cycling Federation for the 2021-2024 cycle, and was also appointed Chairman of the Organizing Committee of the Gulf Cooperation Council in December 2021 AD and Vice President of the Arab Federation for the 2022-2025 session.
