The Kingdom Delegation, represented by the Saudi Arabian Red Crescent Authority, headed by the President of the Authority, Dr. Jalal bin Muhammad Al Owais, continued to participate in meetings of the Board of Directors of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent. at the twenty-third session of the General Assembly of the Federation, currently taking place in Geneva, on the second day, where the Council discussed the policy and vision of first aid. During the meetings, Dr. Al-Owais demanded the strengthening and support of National Societies, working under the auspices of the International Federation, in order to obtain accreditation from the GFARC Global First Aid Reference Center in order to harmonize curricula and improve the quality of education. results in line with ongoing medical updates and strengthening collaboration between National Societies in capacity building.
Al Owaisi explained that the Kingdom has started a capacity building journey with some National Societies such as the Bahrain Red Crescent Society as it sought to develop trainers and conduct specialized training courses for them, and the authorities are currently coordinating with other countries. including Tunisia, the Comoros and Sudan, especially as the Saudi Red Crescent is a pioneer in this field, the total number of recipients of training programs and awareness lectures related to first aid has reached more than 1.2 million people.
Al Owaisi drew attention to the experience of the authorities in the field of digital transformation, especially in the field of first aid, such as a transponder application and a prepared platform for registering for specialized medical courses and first aid, as well as the use of virtual reality technology for first aid. assistance, indicating that the authorities have specialized first aid training programs. Priority is given to the category of people with special needs, including the blind, the deaf and dumb, as well as the approach of a small paramedic.
At the conclusion of the meeting, Dr. Al Owaisi noted the importance of establishing emergency safety requirements in public places and establishing controls and guidelines worldwide, the need to focus on field research and measuring the impact on human life, and the dissemination of first aid help. policy after it was approved by the Board of Directors of the International Federation for health organizations to be informed and informed about what was mentioned in it, as well as presented to scientific institutions to promote the inclusion of first aid in curricula.
Notably, the Kingdom, represented by the Saudi Arabian Red Crescent Authority, received membership on the Board of Directors of the International Federation of the Red Cross and Red Crescent for Asia and the Pacific for a four-year session after the Kingdom, for the second time in its history, received a majority vote of member state delegates in the General Assembly Federation.
