Speaker of the Arab Parliament Adel bin Abdul Rahman Al-Assoumi expressed great confidence in Algeria’s ability to make sure that the events of the Arab summit, which he will hold in early November, justify the hopes and aspirations of the Arab peoples.
Al-Sumi said in a statement to the official Algerian news agency: The Arab Parliament “has full confidence in Algeria’s ability to ensure the success of top-level events in such a way as to realize the hopes and aspirations of the Arab peoples”, stressing its support for all Arab and international efforts aimed at achieving security and stability in the region.
He explained that this summit is of “extraordinary” importance, since its convening comes at a decisive moment, when regional and international challenges facing the Arab countries are exacerbated, which require, more than ever before, “increasing the pace of Arab cooperation.” and solidarity, as well as to promote a process of joint Arab action aimed at solving these problems and realizing the hopes and aspirations of the Arab people for security, development and stability.
Al-Sumi pointed out that the importance of this summit is growing, as it takes place approximately three years after the Tunis 2019 summit, which, according to him, “poses challenges and imposes additional pressure on the agenda of the Arab summit hosted by Algeria.”
In this context, he highlighted the problems that most countries of the world are facing as a result of the consequences of the coronavirus epidemic, as well as the conflict in Ukraine, stating: “All these events have negative consequences for our Arab societies and should be coordinated by the joint efforts of the Arabs in the fight against them.” .
He also highlighted the exceptional international and regional circumstances in which the Arab summit was convened, such as the crisis in Libya and Yemen and the increase in attacks by the occupying army in Palestine, which strongly imposes itself on the agenda of the meeting in Algiers, expressing his confidence that “Arab leaders have the ability and political will to deal effectively with these crises in a way that preserves the unity of the Arab countries and preserves their capabilities in the face of foreign ambitions.
From this point of view, the Arab Parliament hopes that the Algiers summit “represents a qualitative leap in the joint actions of the Arabs on all issues in the region, the main of which is the first Arab question, the cause of Palestine and ways to support the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people in the face of escalation of actions and violations, perpetrated by the occupying forces.”
And al-Sumi pointed out that the Arab peoples are waiting for the Arab leaders at this summit to take new steps to intensify joint Arab action to face the development and economic challenges facing the Arab region, which are no less important than security challenges.
and policies to ensure a better future for present and future generations.
He emphasized that the Arab Parliament relies heavily on the results of the Arab Summit and hopes that it will become an important milestone in the history of joint Arab actions, since the current Arab situation requires every effort to achieve reunification and overcome differences, satisfy the aspirations of the Arab peoples for solidarity, development and prosperity.
