The first football team of Saudi Arabia has completed preparations for participation in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, having held four stages, the first and second in the Spanish city of Alicante, during which Al-Akhdar played 4 test matches.
The first stage lasted 10 days, from May 31 to June 9, during which Al-Akhdar played two friendly matches: the first against Colombia on June 5, ending in a 1-0 defeat of Saudi Arabia, and against Venezuela on June 5. June 9, which ended with a 1:1:0 victory for Venezuela, and both friendly matches were played at Nueva Condomina in Murcia.
In the second preparatory stage, between September 17 and 27, Al-Akhdar played two friendly matches against the national teams of Ecuador and America, and both matches ended in a goalless draw.
So far, the third stage was held in the capital of the UAE, Abu Dhabi, where Al-Akhdar organized a training camp for 25 days, during which he played 5 control matches, where he beat the national team of North Macedonia with a score of 1: 0 and the national team of Iceland, with the same result and tied with Albania and Panama 1-1 in both matches and drew 0-0 with Honduras.
Al Akhdar opened the fourth and final phase of Qatar’s World Cup preparation program from 13 to 16 November in Riyadh, during which he played the only match against Croatia, ending in a 0-1 victory for Croatia.
Saudi Arabia is participating in the World Cup for the sixth time, and Al-Akhdar will play their first match in the World Cup next Tuesday against Argentina, in Group C, which includes Mexico and Poland.
