Senior officials from Afghanistan, Qatar and the United States held a trilateral meeting on Friday on margins of the Antalya Diplomatic Forum (ADF) which launched off in Turkey.
Acting Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi met Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Qatar, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdul Rahman Al Thani and Tom West, United States special representing for Afghanistan, according to a statement from the Afghan Foreign Ministry.
Muttaqi reiterated the Taliban’s position call for “acknowledgement of the new government and release of property as the legitimate right of Afghans,” highlighting the Taliban government’s efforts to “promote political relations and economy“, reads the press release.
The Taliban official says the situation in Afghanistan was “more conducive to positive and diplomatic engagement with the international community than ever before.”
The US envoy called the meeting ” win-win situation” and discussed the Washington situation”future policy on Afghanistan,” the statement said.
“We are trying to get from Afghanistan economy back on his feet,” West reportedly said.
All three parties hailed the ADF as a “good the opportunity to develop contacts,” the press release added.
