Ross Young, CEO of Display Supply Chain Consultants, claims that Apple’s reported 15-inch MacBook Air is still on schedule to go on sale in April. Young has a strong track record of providing display-related details about upcoming Apple products.
Young claimed last month that the production of display panels for a new 15-inch MacBook Air, which would be the highest display size ever offered for the laptop, had begun in Apple’s supply chain. Young predicted the arrival of this MacBook Air in early April at the time, and he reaffirmed that prediction in a brief tweet today.
There is still a possibility of an announcement and pre-orders occurring earlier, even if the 15-inch MacBook Air launches in April. Apple frequently releases new goods in March, but the company did host an event in April of 2021, so any month is possible.
The M2 chip-equipped 13-inch MacBook Air that is currently available debuted in July 2022 after being introduced a month earlier at WWDC. Due to conflicting speculations, it is currently unknown if the M2 or M3 chip would power the 15-inch model. A 15-inch MacBook with M2 and M2 Pro processor options will allegedly be delivered in the second quarter of 2023, according to Apple analyst Ming-Chi Kuo last year. The device might not even have the Air name.
A 15-inch MacBook Air would offer users more screen space at a lesser cost since Apple typically reserves larger display sizes for the MacBook Pro. The laptop’s chassis would also be bigger, allowing for a larger battery.
Mark Gurman at Bloomberg predicts that the 13-inch and 15-inch MacBook Air models will go on sale between late spring and summer.
