Capcom is warning players of Resident Evil 4 of a “rare but critical” problem that might completely wipe all their progress in the game.
The official account for the game sent a statement on Twitter early on Friday morning, alerting players that they should be aware of the problem that can occur. According to the post, the issue would only present itself “under extremely precise conditions” after acquiring a vital item at the beginning of Chapter 12.
Capcom describes the glitch in Resident Evil 4 as following this pattern: “A cutscene will play at the beginning of Chapter 12, and after it, the player will obtain a crucial item.” “I ask that you refrain from attacking with the knife until the notification for gaining this item appears in the upper right corner of the screen.” “Please refrain from attacking with the knife.”
The statement claims that the item needs to be included in the menu labeled “Key Items & Treasures” in the attached case. If it does not appear, players must load their saved data from before Chapter 12 to prevent potentially losing their data.

Capcom chooses not to describe the item precisely to avoid giving anything away.
Capcom is now investigating the issue. Once a solution has been found, it will be included in the next patch available on all platforms. The video game can be played on a personal computer, the PlayStation 5, the PlayStation 4, and the Xbox Series X|S. The Mercenaries gameplay mode will be made available as part of a free update that will go live on April 7th. For those who don’t recall, The Mercenaries aims to eliminate as many foes as possible before the game’s time limit is reached.
