The UN Security Council voted unanimously to extend the mission of the UN Mission in Libya by only three months, until July 31 next year.
The draft resolution submitted by the United Kingdom was to extend the mission of the United Nations political mission in Libya by only three months, asking United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres to expedite the appointment of a new envoy to be based in Tripoli.
The resolution also requires the UN Secretary-General to submit a monthly report on its implementation by the end of July.
Since the resignation of former UN envoy to Libya Jan Kubis last November, the Security Council has witnessed controversy over the mission of the UN mission in Libya.
The UN Security Council extended the mission of the UN mission in Libya last January for only three months, until the end of April.
