Israeli forces shot and killed a Palestinian youth yesterday morning in the north of the occupied West Bank, where the Jewish state is stepping up its operations following a series of attacks, two of which were carried out by Palestinians from Jenin. The Palestinian Ministry of Health and the official news agency (WAFA) announced the death of a Palestinian.
The Israeli army said in a statement that 12 people were arrested, while the Palestinian Prisoners’ Club said the army arrested 17 people in parts of the West Bank.
It happened the day after the killing of a Palestinian youth in the Aqabat Jaber camp in the occupied West Bank city of Jericho after special forces stormed the camp.
The army said in a statement that soldiers had given orders to demolish the home of the family of Raad Hazem, the last shooter in Tel Aviv who killed three Israelis and wounded several more. AFP watched a short video clip circulating on social media in which Raad’s father, Fathi Hazem, confirms that the Palestinians are not terrorists. “Every Palestinian youth becomes a target, anyone who raises a flag becomes a terrorist,” he says defiantly. We are not terrorists. We are defending our homeland, our land and the path of our Prophet.”
Hazem, dressed in a jacket and covering his head with a hat, responds to someone’s question about Israel’s threats by saying, “We don’t take them seriously,” quoting verses from the Koran. “We will defeat them, God willing,” added the father, who has been pursued by the Israeli army since the day of the attack.
