Hussein Ibrahim Taha, Secretary-General of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation, reaffirmed the organization’s absolute commitment and strong support for the right of the Palestinian people to sovereignty over their occupied lands, including the city of East Jerusalem as the capital of the State of Palestine, the religious and spiritual centrality of this city, and the eternal attachment of Muslims around the world to the blessed Al Mosque – Aksa.
This came at the opening of an extraordinary open meeting of the Executive Committee of the Organization at the level of permanent delegates to discuss the ongoing Israeli attacks on the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque, which was held at the headquarters of the General Secretariat. yesterday, at the request of the Republic of Indonesia and under the chairmanship of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, presided over the fourteenth session of the Islamic Summit Conference.
The Secretary-General indicated that he had sent letters to several international actors in which he expressed the organization’s rejection and condemnation of the Israeli occupation’s attempts to impose a temporal and spatial separation of the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque and called on those parties and the international community to take urgent action to put an end to Israel’s violations holy places.
In his speech, Taha called for a mobilization of political, economic and media efforts more than ever before to protect the city of Jerusalem and its holy sites, support the resilience of its people in the face of Israeli plans for Judaization and protect the inalienable rights of the Palestinians therein, and act responsibly and communicate with all international actors and international bodies interested in taking appropriate political and legal action against Israel, the occupying Power, and to put pressure on it to stop its ongoing violations against the Palestinian people and their sanctuary. He also called on all international actors to take responsibility and support the political path leading to the end of the Israeli occupation and the realization of the establishment of an independent and sovereign State of Palestine on the 1967 borders with East Jerusalem as its capital, based on international law, relevant United Nations resolutions and the Arab Peace initiative.
For his part, Dr. Saleh bin Hamad al-Suhaybani confirmed that the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz, confirmed during his presidency of the twenty-ninth Arab Summit held in the city of Dhahran that Palestine is our first priority, and that Palestine and its people are on the conscience of the Arabs and Muslims, while emphasizing that it will remain until the fraternal Palestinian people have received all their legitimate rights, the main of which is the establishment of their independent state, and that the Palestinian cause represents the main pillar of the work of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation and is at the center of our attention so that the brotherly Palestinian people receive all their legitimate rights guaranteed to them by resolutions of international legitimacy and the Arab Peace Initiative.
He added that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, as it strongly condemns and condemns the repeated Israeli attacks and provocative violations against believers and believers in the blessed Al-Aqsa Mosque; At the same time, he urges the international community to take effective measures to play its part in holding the Israeli occupying forces fully accountable for these crimes and violations and their negative consequences for the chances of reviving the peace process, as these provocative actions threaten to explode the arena of conflict in region.
