Pakistani Foreign Ministry spokesman Asim Iftikhar confirmed that Pakistan has witnessed a peaceful and democratic transfer of power in accordance with Pakistan’s constitution, denying the validity of a foreign conspiracy theory to overthrow the government of former Prime Minister Imran Khan.
At today’s weekly press briefing in Islamabad, he clarified that the National Security Committee had discussed in detail the diplomatic cable that former Prime Minister Imran Khan described as promising a foreign threat demanding a change of government in Pakistan, adding that the matter had been scrutinized by all stakeholders in National Security Council. Indeed, it turned out that there was no foreign conspiracy to overthrow the government of Imran Khan.
The spokesman explicitly stated that the National Security Council had already concluded that there was no foreign conspiracy to overthrow the government of Imran Khan.
He pointed out that this issue has already been resolved, and at present the focus is on strengthening diplomatic relations with all countries based on national interests.
A spokesman for the Pakistani Foreign Ministry urged domestic parties in his country to take the issue with a certain degree of responsibility and avoid irresponsible comments, given the existence of “trust and confidentiality” in diplomatic relations, warning that the politicization of diplomatic issues leads to complications in Pakistan’s relations with other countries.
