Polling stations in France have begun opening their doors to more than 48 million voters to cast their votes in the second round of the French presidential election pitted against outgoing President Emmanuel Macron and his right-wing rival Marie Le Pen.
French media reported today that polling stations across France opened their doors at 8:00 am, adding that the first scores will be announced as usual at 8:00 pm in the media.
She pointed out that Macron led the results of the first round of the presidential election, held on April 10, with 27.85% of the vote, while Le Pen received 23.15%.
The French Interior Ministry said turnout in the first round of the presidential election was 25.48 percent, compared to 2017, when the turnout in the first round was 28.54 percent.
