Egypt condemned in the strongest possible terms the deliberate misuse of the Holy Quran by an extremist group in Sweden and the subsequent incitement of sentiment among Muslims around the world during the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement today, the Egyptian Foreign Ministry reiterated its refusal to harm religious principles and beliefs, whatever they may be, and to engage in provocative actions that are contrary to all human values and principles.
He called for upholding the common denominators of tolerance, acceptance of others and peaceful coexistence among peoples, rejecting calls for incitement and hatred, and stopping acts of violence, sabotage and provocative acts that damage the stability, security and peace of societies.
