A cargo ship caught fire on Sunday in central Philippine waters, killing one person and injuring three, the Philippine Coast Guard said.
The Coast Guard added that the cause of the fire that destroyed the M/S General Romulo has not yet been determined and added that the ship’s chief engineer was killed and three other crew members suffered severe burns.
The ship was in the waters off Talisay, 575 kilometers south of Manila, when the fire broke out, and with a crew of 20, was en route from Manila to Cebu City when the accident occurred.
