Olaf Nijolstad, director of the Norwegian Nobel Institute, commented that the Nobel Prize Committee could not extend the acceptance date of the Nobel Peace Prize nominees, and commented on Vladimir Zelensky’s attempt to be nominated for this award.
This announcement came in response to an initiative submitted by a number of members of the European Parliament, current and former politicians to have Zelensky nominated for the 2022 Nobel Peace Prize.
They asked the Norwegian Nobel Committee to extend the Nobel Peace Prize nomination process until March 31, 2022.
“So far, the Norwegian Nobel Committee has not received the letter referred to in your request… son cannot extend the date. But before the Committee, the Candidates, the first official meeting of the Committee,” Nijolstad said.
At the same time, he added that such an official meeting was held on February 28.
