Roguelike First-Person Shooter “The Foglands” Set to Launch on PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2 on October 31
The highly anticipated game, “The Foglands,” developed by Well Told Entertainment, is finally making its way to PlayStation 5 with PlayStation VR2 support. The game is also set to release on Quest 2 on the same day, October 31. Excitingly, a PC version is also planned for release via Steam at a later date.
“The Foglands” offers an immersive roguerite experience with a first-person shooter mode that can be enjoyed on the PlayStation 5 without the need for a VR headset. Players will take on the role of Jim, a new Runner responsible for collecting scavenged goods and defending the Hold from monstrous creatures lurking in the Fog. When a massive behemoth threatens the survival of the Hold, players must embark on a mission to stop it, even if it means sacrificing their own lives.
In the game, players will be guided by The Stranger, a mysterious figure, who provides supernatural abilities through a deck of cards. However, these abilities come at a price. As players explore, fight, loot, and inevitably die, they will constantly be challenged to improve their skills and adapt to the ever-changing world of fog.
Explore a Mysterious and Treacherous World
In “The Foglands,” players will navigate through an ever-shifting world of fog, encountering various biomes that pose deadly threats. The floors and rooms change with each run, revealing secrets and artifacts lost in the fog. The game offers a unique twist by allowing players to discover lost keys that belonged to previous Runners, unlocking their secrets and even encountering lost Runners themselves.
Fight Off the Legions of Darkness
The game combines barfight melee and shoot-em-up gunplay, utilizing the advanced eye-tracking and precision latency of PS VR2. Players can use any grabbable item as a weapon, with intention targeting and eye tracking enhancing combat capabilities. The more players develop their playstyle and land combo attacks, the more they benefit from the time-slow effect, assisting them in defeating the terrifying creatures of the Foglands.
Collect Valuable Resources and Unlock New Upgrades
Despite the desolate appearance of the Foglands, there are hidden treasures waiting to be discovered. Players can collect Scrap and Fog Oil to unlock gear upgrades, new items, and access new areas. However, death comes with a cost as previously gathered items are left behind. To ensure progress, players can use Loot Chutes to send their Scrap home for future runs. Additionally, players will collect Abilities from The Stranger’s Cards, enhancing their power and allowing for diverse playstyles tailored to their preferences.
