T-Mobile US to Cut 5,000 Jobs in the United States
T-Mobile US plans to reduce its workforce in the United States by 7%, cutting almost 5,000 jobs, due to the challenges of higher customer acquisition costs, according to the company’s announcement on Thursday.
In an email to employees, CEO Mike Sievert stated that the job cuts will take place within the next five weeks and mainly affect corporate and back-office positions, as well as some technology roles.
It is important to note that retail and consumer care divisions will not be affected by these job cuts.
T-Mobile US anticipates incurring a pre-tax charge of approximately $450 million in the third quarter as a result of these measures.
As a consequence of this news, the company’s shares experienced a slight decline of about 0.4% during early trading.
