Meta Releases First Substantial Upgrade to Threads Social Network
Meta released the first substantial upgrade to its Threads social network. This update brings various new features that improve the social network’s usefulness. New features include a tab that will show you who follows you so that you can follow them back, an option that will allow you to subscribe to persons that you have previously unfollowed, faster loading speeds for the activity feed, and a translation option that will allow you to translate articles into a new language.
An Instagram software engineer named Cameron Roth revealed the comprehensive list of new Threads features.
- translations!
- follows tab on the activity feed
- subscribe to unfollowed users
- activity feed scrolling + loading improvements
- following + on thread replies page
- tappable reporter labels
- open the IG followers list
- a few small crash fixes. We’re now at 0.02%
- more binary size cuts
- a handful of other small bugs
Even though an update for Threads is already available in the App Store, the updates are still being pushed out on the server. Users may need to restart their app to view the new features, and they will also need to wait until the changes have been fully deployed to everyone. Some customers may not have access to the new features until later tonight.
Threads Surpasses 100 Million Downloads
After only one week on the market, Threads was already responsible for more than 100 million downloads. Even though the number of daily active users has decreased, the platform still has millions of users less than two weeks after its launch. Over the weekend, Instagram’s head of business, Adam Mosseri, stated that “growth, retention, and engagement” exceed his expectations in all three areas. The priorities now include “building new features, dialing in performance, and improving ranking.”
The Chief Executive Officer of Meta, Mark Zuckerberg, stated, “10s of Millions of People Now Come Back Daily.” The firm expects to concentrate for the remainder of the year on “Improving the Basics and Retention.”
