No need to get into the early access of Baldur’s Gate III. The Larian studio has warned its players that at this stage: “this is essentially a pre-order”. And for good reason, when the software is released on August 3 on PC, the saves will not be transferred to the full game. As a reminder, the title has been in early access for three years already and users who have tackled it have been able to discover the entire first act. The problem is that since then, Baldur’s Gate 3 has undergone many changes that have made this content obsolete. “No two games will be the same, and that goes even for those of you who have accumulated a few hundred hours. Compared to its launch, Act 1 contains about 33% more stuff. Lots of things have changed, lots have been added,” reads their statement. Clearly, the differences are such that the save files will not be compatible with each other.
Although it is no longer useful, it is still possible to buy early access. Players who get it will still get all the digital goodies that came with the Digital Deluxe version of the game (dice skin, song pack, OST, art book, etc.). However, they will not have access to the full title 72 hours in advance as advertised. Larian studio believes that this change of plan is due to the lag between the release on PC and PS5, which is separated by a month and which would make these few hours useless.
What is Baldur’s Gate 3?
Baldur’s Gate 3 is a role-playing game from Larian studio where every action and every choice will have consequences. The software has an ultra-advanced customization system, whether in terms of appearance, skill, or class. This means that each adventure will be completely new. Sometimes, combat will be the only solution and the player will then have to embark on a turn-based confrontation in which he will have to exploit his character as well as possible. Finally, you should know that Baldur’s Gate 3 does not like to hold its fans by the hand. The title promotes a way of playing in total autonomy with the world around us. It will land on August 3 on PC and September 6 on PS5. It will arrive later on the Xbox Series X|S.
