The upcoming sports season of 2023-2024 will see the participation of seven prominent Saudi Arabian football clubs. Al-Shabab, Al-Fateh, Al-Ittifaq, Al-Faihaa, Abha, Al-Wahda, and Al-Khalij clubs have confirmed their involvement in the second reserve league draw, mirroring the previous season of 2022-2023.
The decision to include these clubs in the reserve league draw was made by the Competition Committee during a meeting with the Roshan League and the Professional League clubs. The committee took into consideration the viewpoints shared by the clubs and the schedule for the upcoming sports season. The season will feature various international performances and training camps for national teams. Notably, the first national team will participate in the Asian Cup held in Qatar, and the Asian Cup under 23 will be established in April.
As part of the plan for the upcoming season, clubs participating in the reserve league will receive 5 million riyals as participation support. Additionally, the number of players registered in the main team will be increased from 30 to 35 players.
In other news, the competition committee of the Saudi Arabian Football Association has scheduled a coordination meeting with the seven aforementioned clubs on Wednesday. The meeting will be conducted via video link and will focus on discussing the commencement of the reserve league for the next season.
It is worth mentioning that Al Ettifak emerged as champions in the inaugural edition of the Saudi Reserve League during the previous season. The league featured a total of seven clubs, including Al Ettifak, Al Shabab, Abha, Al Fateh, Al Fayhaa, Al Tay, and Al Vedda.
