Sometimes secrets are ok, but we’d never keep the physical release of Julia Louis-Dreyfus’ new movie a secret. One of A24’s newest releases, You Hurt My Feelings, is coming to Blu-ray and DVD on August 22, 2023.
Nicole Holofcener, who wrote and directed Enough Said, is in charge of the new movie. You Hurt My Feelings is about a successful writer, played by Louis-Dreyfus, whose most recent publishing mistakes have made her doubt her writing skills. Worse yet, when she hears her normally helpful husband criticizing her latest writing projects, it sends her marriage into a downward spiral that will affect her life and the lives of those she loves. Her husband is played by Tobias Menzies, who has been in Game of Thrones and Outlander. Arian Moayed and Michaela Watkins also play major roles in the movie. Ross Bonaime of Collider liked that the movie was funny and had a light tone.
Is Honesty Always the Best Policy?
The movie follows a writer named Beth who lives in New York City and her husband, Don, who works as a marriage counselor. Their relationship is loving and full of love, but it is also held together by a thread of small, loving lies. When Don asks Beth if she might get Botox, she thinks about it. And when she says that her own Botox treatments haven’t stopped her from moving her eyebrows (they have), he doesn’t tell her the truth
