Sheikh Talal Al-Fahd Al-Sabah Elected Chairman of Olympic Council of Asia
Today, at the General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia held in Bangkok, Sheikh Talal Al-Fahd Al-Sabah was elected as the Chairman of the Council for the next electoral cycle (2023-2027). The decision came after a tough competition with Hussein Al-Muslim, the President of the International Swimming Federation and director of the Olympic Council of Asia, who was also a presidential candidate.
A Tight Contest
According to the Kuwaiti newspaper Al-Qabas, the election witnessed a closely contested race between Al-Fahd and Al-Muslim. Ultimately, Al-Fahd emerged victorious with 24 votes, while Al-Muslim secured 20 of the 44 votes cast during the Congress.
This outcome highlights the significance of the Asian Council’s vote and the support garnered by Sheikh Talal Al-Fahd Al-Sabah from the member nations.
