25 People Killed in Armed Attack on School in Western Uganda
The Ugandan police have confirmed that 25 people have died in an armed attack on a secondary school in the west of the country, near the border with the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Attack by Allied Democratic Forces (ADF)
The police have stated that the attack was carried out by a Ugandan group called the Allied Democratic Forces (ADF), which is based in eastern Congo and is affiliated with ISIS. The ADF reportedly burned down a hostel and looted groceries late at night.
Military Pursuit of Attackers
The police have also confirmed that the attackers were pursued by the military as they fled towards a park in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
Previous Attack by ADF
This is not the first time that the ADF has been involved in such violent attacks. In April, the same group attacked a village in eastern Democratic Republic of the Congo, killing at least 20 people. Uganda sent troops into the Congo to help eliminate its members.
