In a message ahead of one of Britain’s oldest rituals, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak said the coronation of King Charles was not just a “spectacle” but a “proud expression” of history.
The British prime minister, who will be among party leaders and dignitaries at Westminster Abbey later on Saturday, said it was an opportunity for “hope and optimism” for the future.
“The coronation of King Charles III and Queen Camilla will be a moment of exceptional national pride,” British news agency BA Media quoted Sunak as saying.
“Together with friends from across the Commonwealth and beyond, we will celebrate the enduring nature of our great monarchy, its continuity and devotion to duty and service to others.”
“No other country can put on such a breathtaking spectacle – processions, pomp, ceremonies and street festivities,” he added.
