The Spanish newspaper Mundo Deportivo published today, Monday, a report on the situation of the family of the Argentine star Lionel Messi, striker of the Paris Saint-Germain football team, upon his return to Barcelona.
Messi’s contract with Paris Saint-Germain expires at the end of the current season, and an agreement has not yet been reached on an extension.
And the Argentine star has stepped up rumors about his future and the possibility of his return to FC Barcelona after he arrived in the Catalan city on Saturday, accompanied by his family, although press reports confirmed that it was just a visit for a short vacation.
Spanish journalist Gerard Romero, who is close to the management of FC Barcelona, said via his Twitter account that “Messi arrived in Barcelona on Saturday with 15 bags, accompanied by his family, Pepe Costa and his assistants. This is not a regular visit of the Argentine star to Barcelona, because Pepe Costa was carrying 15 “suitcase” bags.
He added: “Considering previous visits, Messi left the airport this time through a different door so that no one in Barcelona could see him.”
He continued: “Messi is as close as ever to a return to Barcelona, but we have to be careful in the coming days because movements are possible.”
And Spanish reports have confirmed earlier that Barcelona have a strong desire to reinstate Messi next summer on a two-season deal after he left Camp Nou in the summer of 2021 as part of a free transfer deal.
But according to the Mundo Deportivo newspaper, the Messi family welcomes back to Barcelona, having lived there most of their lives.
The newspaper added that, despite the happiness that the family of the Argentine star experiences in Paris, she considers Barcelona her country.
And press reports indicated that Barcelona had delayed the move to start negotiations with Messi until La Liga responded to the club’s plan for the player’s payroll.
