The Turkish Ministry of Culture and Tourism announced son support for 65 projects of nearly $138,000 (1.98 million TL) consisting of scenario and dialogue writing for short and animated film productions.
The monetary aid is intended to stimulate the development of Turkish cinema and encourage young people for step in the sector by original productions.
The projects to be supported were evaluated by a committee of eight people including representatives of the cinema sector and ministry. As the result of the evaluation of the committee, the largest part in the cake goes to short film productions.
According to the statement made by the ministry, the increase in the number of women writers and directors who has received support was remarkable. While the rate of women who has received support in scenarios was 50% and 30% in the genre of the short film, all those who received funding in the animation genre consisted of of directors.
The Ministry also announced that like movie grants will continue to be awarded in the coming months, the applications of feature films will be evaluated in March, while the documentary genre will be assessed in May.
