Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan announced yesterday that nuclear fuel will be pumped into the Akkuyu nuclear power plant in the southern province of Mersin on April 27. At the Akkuyu NPP, after which the station will be officially considered nuclear. Akkuyu NPP is the world’s first nuclear power plant project to be implemented according to the (build-own-operate) model, according to which Russia will build, own and operate the plant.
It is noteworthy that the agreement between Russia and Turkey on the construction of the Akkuyu station near the city of Mersin was signed in 2010. The station includes 4 power units with a capacity of 1200 MW each. the project is about 20 billion dollars.
