The iOS 16.4 update supports detecting duplicate photos in iCloud Shared Photo Library, in addition to new emojis, online push notifications, and a wide variety of other improvements.
Apple included a feature that may identify duplicate photos within the Pictures app with the release of iOS 16. If you have identical photographs, the Photos app will show you a folder labeled “Duplicates” in the utility album area. You can then merge all of your duplicate photographs using that interface.
The option to detect duplicates was initially incompatible with iCloud Shared Picture Library; however, with iOS 16.4, this compatibility issue has been resolved. After updating iOS 16.4, Apple claims that users can discover duplicate photos and videos in their iCloud Shared Photo Library and merge them to reduce the number of unwanted additional images.
The public release of iOS 16.4 is imminent, possibly as soon as next week. Further improvements to Crash Detection for iPhone 14 models, support for VoiceOver on Weather app maps, a fix for an issue that prevented Ask to Buy requests from showing up on a parent’s device, an issue with Matter-compatible thermostats, and other fixes and enhancements are also included in the update.
