A donors’ conference in support of the victims of the earthquakes in Syria and Turkey, organized by the European Commission in cooperation with the Kingdom of Sweden, which alternately presides over the Council of the European Union, kicked off in Brussels today. , with the participation of the Member States of the European Union, the G20 countries, the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council, international and humanitarian organizations, the delegation of the Kingdom was led by His Excellency Adviser to the Royal Court and General Overseer of the King Salman Relief Center, Dr. Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Rabia , in the presence of the Kingdom’s Head of Mission to the European Union and the European Atomic Energy Society, Ambassador Al-Judea of Haifa.
In his speech at the conference, Dr. Abdullah Al Rabia conveyed the regards of the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and His Highness the Reliable Crown Prince, God bless them, and their appreciation for the efforts of the Government of Sweden and the European Union to organize this an important conference through which he hopes to unite the efforts of the international community in providing the necessary support; To enable communities affected by the devastating earthquake that hit the Syrian and Turkish Republics to recover and endure, noting that the Kingdom appreciates the resilience of the field teams working on earthquake mitigation and reconstruction, and deplores the flooding that the Republic of Turkey has witnessed in the past environment, exacerbated the situation of those affected by the earthquake.
His Excellency said: “Throughout its rich history, the Kingdom has always responded to rapid humanitarian response to natural disasters and crises and met humanitarian needs, which has placed it at the forefront of countries providing humanitarian assistance in recent years, away from religious, ethnic, gender and political motives, as well as embodying the Kingdom’s continued commitment and close solidarity with affected communities.” As the earthquake struck in Syria and Turkey, the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques and His Highness the Crown Prince – God save them – led the air bridge, rescue and rescue teams, and ambulance and relief teams led by the King’s Relief Center Salman with the participation of the General Directorate of Civil Defense and the Saudi Red Crescent.
His Excellency added: “The generous directive also included the launch of a popular citizen donation campaign to ensure the participation of the people of Saudi Arabia in mitigating the impact of the earthquake on their Syrian and Turkish brothers. State and citizen donations reach $150 million, including operating (16) an aircraft carrying shelter, food and medical supplies in connection with the start of the King Salman Assistance Center to create (3,000) temporary housing as in Syria , and in Turkey in the first phase, as well as the implementation of a number of food, health and housing projects worth about (73.3) million US dollars in partnership with a number of international, international and local organizations, the campaign is still ongoing.
Dr. Abdullah Al-Rabia concluded his speech by stressing that the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia continues to support the Syrian and Turkish people. To mitigate the effects of the earthquake and return stability and life to normal, asking the Lord – the Almighty – to grant security, stability and development to the two peoples, hoping that the Almighty will write the success of the conference in achieving the necessary humanitarian assistance.
