A savvy Mercy Overwatch 2 player uses one of her emotes to hide in plain sight to win a competitive match as Mercy.
Through the imaginative use of a Mercy emote, a cunning Overwatch 2 player may win a competitive match. Mercy uses the emote in this funny Overwatch 2 footage to give their team just enough time to win the game.
Reddit user and Overwatch 2 gamer SponsorTomix posted the replay. Their side lost the competitive battle due to the opposition team’s Mercy player contesting the payload for over a minute while remaining undetected by utilizing an emote. This play utterly duped their team.
The opposing Mercy player utilized the Rest emote, which causes the healer to sit down forever until canceled, to crouch down in a nearby bush, essentially disappearing from view as the game entered overtime. To dispute it, the bush had to be close enough to the payload, which extended playtime enough for their team to respawn. The opposition team won the Overwatch 2 match after returning and taking the next battle.
Due to enemy Mercy challenging the payload from an Overwatch bush, I just lost a competition game.
This fan is by no means the first to create a fantastic Overwatch 2 play using creative emotes. In Overwatch 2, several players have used emotes to glitch over obstacles and evade ultimate attacks and headshots. Though challenging to execute, successfully adjusting visual zones and hitboxes is always amazing.
I just lost a comp game because enemy Mercy was contesting the payload from a bush

Other Overwatch 2 players recounted stories of similar moves involving the bushes strewn over the maps. Fans claim that Lucio players are notorious for employing this strategy because they can still support the players in their immediate vicinity with their passive auras. Some even claimed they frequently blast any bushes in case they contain an opposing Overwatch 2 support hero.
Players must have Overwatch 2 at minimum graphics settings for this method to work. The bushes don’t render if players turn down their visuals, robbing the opposing team of the cover without their knowing. Players have employed this strategy to resist cunning tactics, often without even being aware that their adversary was attempting to elude them.
Some fans advise playing competitive Overwatch 2 on the lowest settings to guarantee the highest FPS possible. Some find it annoying that they give up graphic fidelity to play well. Players will need to disable their graphics or thoroughly scrutinize every bush if they wish to avoid getting duped like SponsorTomix.
For PC, PS4, PS5, Switch, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S, Overwatch 2 is currently available.
