Even though Star Wars Jedi: Survivor has yet to go live, the game’s director is already discussing the possibility of a third installment in the series.
Director Stig Asmussen of Respawn Entertainment claimed in an interview with IGN that the studio has been planning the sequels to the game since before the 2019 release of the original. More specifically, the planned duration and subsequent development of Cal Kestis’ narrative.
Before Fallen Order debuted, Asmussen claimed that discussions for the second game had already begun. “Sincerely, we were talking beyond that. And throughout these discussions with Lucasfilm, as we announce the news, they ask, “Well, where are we heading with the second game?”
He said, “This was something I always intended to be a trilogy. How can we expand on what we did in the first game and transport Cal and the team to other locations?”
Asmussen stated that the third game in the series would use Unreal Engine 5. On Unreal Engine 4, the game Star Wars Jedi: Survival was created.
I won’t pretend it’ll be simple, he said. We have a lot of proprietary features that are why the engine performs what it does for Jedi right now, and we would have to retool some of that to make it function on any new engine.
Release dates for Star Wars Jedi: Survivor for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S are set for April 28. The new game has added fast travel and mounts that players can mount.
