German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius expressed his position on the Chinese proposal to resume negotiations between Russia and Ukraine with the aim of establishing peace between the two countries, which entered the second year of hostilities two days ago. Commenting on the Chinese peace plan, Beijing put forward Pistorius a few days ago: “We will judge China by its actions, not words. He added: “We are waiting for China’s action, not its words, especially in light of reports indicating Beijing’s intention to give Moscow military marches on Ukrainian soil while presenting a peace plan.”
As for the issue of reclaiming Crimea from Russian troops, as more than one Ukrainian official has recently confirmed, he believes that this decision rests solely with the Ukrainian authorities, and not with any Western country.
Pistorius was born in 1960, joined the Social Democratic Party (Socialists) in early 1976 and became deputy mayor of the city of Osnabrück in 1999 until he took the first position, that is, the mayor of the city, in 2006. Then in 2013 he was appointed Minister of the Interior in his state (Saxony) below, a position he held until his sudden and rapid move to Berlin to take over the Federal Defense portfolio.
