The Finnish Ministry of Defense noted that it has decided to conclude an agreement with Tel Aviv to purchase Israeli-made defense weapons, and that it has taken this step “in preparation for the development of the situation in Ukraine”.
“Finland is working to improve its anti-aircraft defense,” Finnish Defense Minister Antti Kakkonen told yle channel.
He pointed out that his country has decided to buy defensive weapons from Israel.
“We have intelligence that shows that Belarus is considering a larger role in Ukraine,” he said.
He emphasized that his country is preparing for “a number of scenarios” with the development of the situation in Ukraine, while Finland is not facing any threat at the moment.
“The situation at our borders is peaceful, but we must remain vigilant and strengthen our defensive capabilities.”
He also announced that Finland is participating in defense cooperation talks with the United Kingdom.
