Today, Friday, the networks of the National Seismological Station of Egypt recorded 3 consecutive earthquakes near Egypt, which were felt by residents of some provinces of Cairo, Qalyubia, Suez, Port Said and Ismailia, Egyptian media reported. According to the national station, 3 earthquakes of varying strength were tracked, the last of which had 4.9 and 4.5 on the Richter scale north of Suez, and was preceded by another earthquake of a weak degree.
There were also light earthquakes in the northern regions of Port Said and Ismailia, according to the official website of the National Seismological Station and the Euro-Mediterranean Center.
The National Institute of Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt (Helwan Observatory) stated that “the earthquake occurred at 00:25 local time, 27 km north of the city of Suez, at a depth of 10 km, and it was felt by citizens in several regions of the country.”
Residents of Cairo, Suez, the governorates of Lower Egypt and the Channel reported that they felt a small earthquake.
There were no immediate reports of loss of life or property.
