You’ve never seen John Cena like this before. On February 10, while on the set of the comedy film Ricky Stanicky in Melbourne, Australia, the actor was captured sporting a black T-shirt, a short black and white plaid skirt, thigh-high, black stockings, and black lace-up booties. The WWE Hall of Famer had been seen on the set two days before wearing mime-like makeup, a loose black vest over a button-down white shirt with pinstripes, long shorts, red and yellow socks, and black shoes.
In the Peter Farrelly-directed movie, which also stars Zac Efron, Jermaine Fowler, and William H. Macy, Cena plays the lead role. The storyline centers on three friends who, while still teenagers, mistakenly burn down a house as part of a practical joke and then attribute the occurrence to a fictional character named Ricky Stanicky. Their wives grow suspicious as they use him as a convenient escape for the following 20 years. As a result, they employ an actor to portray Stanicky.
Cena tweeted on February 1 that he was “beyond happy” to work with an amazing cast, our director, producers, and collaborators at @AmazonStudios @primevideo to bring these characters to life (both on and off screen). “Can’t wait for you to meet #RickyStanicky. He’s a best friend to all!”
In addition to the comedy, the Fast & Furious sequel Fast X, whose trailer debuted on February 10, features John Cena. The actor returns to the role of Jakob Toretto, brother of Dominic Toretto (Vin Diesel) and Mia Toretto (Jordana Brewster), which he originated in the 2021 film F9: The Fast Saga.
