In January, Apple released macOS Big Sur version 11.7.3, including security updates. Nevertheless, some online reports claim that the software upgrade also brought forth a new flaw that prevents icons from appearing in Safari’s Favorites section.
Affected customers have complained about the problem on Twitter, Reddit, the Apple Support Community, and other online forums since the update was published last month. As of this writing, approximately 300 customers have clicked the “Me Too” button in one of the Apple Support Community discussions to say they are also having the problem.
Many websites in the Favorites area that would typically display an icon for impacted users remain blank or with just a letter.
It’s unknown whether Apple is aware of the problem or whether a different macOS version would be required for a repair. Due to the significant security changes deployed, updating macOS 11.7.3 is still advised in the interim. This Safari problem does not affect the most recent macOS Monterey and macOS Ventura builds.
