The experimental browser Safari Technology Preview, which Apple first revealed in March 2016, received a new update from Apple today. Apple created the Safari Technology Preview to try out features that could be included in later versions of the browser.
Safari Technology Preview 162 fixes bugs and improves performance in Web Inspector, CSS, Scrolling, Gamepad API, Media, Web API, and Accessibility. Macs running macOS Ventura 13.2 or later or macOS Monterey with Safari 16.2 now have access to Shared Tab Groups and synchronization for Tab Groups, Website Settings, and Web Extensions.
Version 16.4 of the Safari Technology Preview is currently available. It works with computers running both macOS Ventura and macOS Monterey.
Anyone who has downloaded the browser can access the Safari Technology Preview update via the Software Update feature in System Preferences or System Settings. On the website for Safari Technology Preview, you may read the update’s complete release notes.
With Safari Technology Preview, Apple hopes to get user and developer feedback on its browser development process. The Safari Technology Preview browser may coexist with the default Safari browser. Despite being intended for developers, downloading does not need a developer account.
