“While companies cannot go to jail, this conviction and ruling serves as a reminder to corporations and directors that they cannot defraud the IRS with impunity,” Attorney Alvin Bragg said in a statement.
A group of American billionaires designated to represent the Republican Party in the 2024 presidential election has been tried on charges of committing financial irregularities and falsifying accounting records, specifically to hide financial rewards received by some of its senior staff from the IRS.
The Trump organization is currently run by the former president’s sons Donald Jr. and Eric.
Donald Trump called the Manhattan Attorney General’s case a “witch hunt.”
