An earthquake measuring 7.6 on the Richter scale hit the Tanimbar Islands area today. The Indonesian Meteorological and Geophysical Agency said the quake struck at 2:47 local time at a depth of 130 km.
After the earthquake, which was felt in parts of northern Australia, at least four aftershocks were observed.
Officials from the National Disaster Mitigation Agency said the quake damaged at least 15 homes and two schools and injured one person.
