British Foreign Secretary James Cleverley defended the royal family on Sunday following controversy over racism at Buckingham Palace and the launch of a Netflix documentary series about Harry and Meghan.
Cleverly told Sky News on Sunday that he had yet to see the Harry and Meghan documentary, the first three episodes of which have been streaming on Netflix since Thursday. The first episodes of the documentary series about the son of the British King Charles III and his American wife were devoted to media harassment and racist insinuations in the press and the Internet. But the rest of the series is supposed to talk about the lack of support from the “royal family”, the victims of which, according to Harry and Meghan, they became. Harry and Meghan left the royal family in 2020 after accusing them of not supporting them enough and of racism in an interview with an American TV channel that made a splash last year. James Cleverley told Sky News that there is no greater supporter of a multicultural Britain than Prince Charles. “I think the attitude of the royal family towards this country reflects the current state that we see,” he added. Cleverly’s comments came days before the final episodes aired and in the aftermath of the recent racist scandal in Buckingham.
